DISCIPLINE

In order to train our children properly, boundaries must be placed upon them. When these boundaries are broken, there must be consequences. Any other system does not give the true picture of sowing and reaping from scripture.

We believe in a loose application of Lee Canter’s assertive discipline plan. A system of fair expectations are placed upon each student. When these expectations are met a positive reinforcement will ensue. When these expectations are broken, as stated before, then negative reinforcement takes place. This will entail withdrawn privileges, time out, and ultimately corporeal punishment. We believe that paddling is Biblical. The “rod” introduced in the book of Proverbs is necessary sometimes for correction. If these sessions are not effective, then dismissal may be necessary. Attendance is a privilege not a right.

ATTENDANCE

If there is an absence, a note must be sent in with the child the day the child returns to school explaining the reason. If an absence is anticipated (personal day, vacation, etc.), notice must be given to the office or teacher before the day of the absence. If an absence of one day is expected, two days notice must be given, if a week is anticipated, then two weeks notice etc. School attendance is mandatory according to the State of Florida. If there are more than ten unexused absences in a nine week period, we are required to report this to the State of Florida.
